About

Paintings

Maria Bruzewski started painting about l0 years ago when her son gave her a set of oil paints for her birthday. Because of the odor associated with oil paints indoors, she decided to paint more in acrylics. Retirement in 1996 allowed her more time for her favorite hobby. After attending a workshop on watercolor painting in 2005, Maria decided to try this new medium and found she also liked watercolors.

In 2005 Maria joined the newly formed Watercolor Guild of Trigg Lyon and Caldwell County, Kentucky (WAG/TLC) and served as their secretary for several years. Since 2005 the guild has exhibited in many shows in Princeton, Kentucky and Cadiz, Kentucky. Samples of Maria's paintings were in most of these shows. The most recent exhibit was in November 2013 at the Janice Mason Art Museum in Cadiz, Kentucky.

Maria's work is currently offered for sale at the following locations in Cadiz, Kentucky; Trigg County Hospital Giftshop, Consignment World Shop and the Cadiz Comfort Zone.

Greeting and Note Cards

Maria loves taking photographs of beautiful landscapes and special buildings. When her church asked her to send cards to the shut-ins in the parish, she bought a card program to help her match the card inscription to the individual. The card program allowed her to use her collection of photographs. Many tourists come to Cadiz, Kentucky and the Land Between the Lakes area during the summer and soon she found a store that was happy to sell her cards. Once Maria noticed that there was an interest in her greeting cards, she also compiled a self guided tour booklet which contained the historic homes and buildings in the center of town, along with a short history on each home.

Maria is grateful that painting and her greeting cards have allowed her to be creative and have a fun hobby in her retirement.
